Some projects

Well after an eventful day yesterday complete with me locking myself out of the house.. ugh. I didn't get to blog but oh well... I wanted to share a project that I tackled last weekend. I love sunburst mirrors and found lots of pretty ones online. But the price tags...Yikes!! most are at least $200 bucks for the size I wanted.

So i got crafty.

I was going to go with silver since we have silver accents in the room but instead I thought that drift wood might tie in with the grey in our room while adding some nice texture to break up all the smooth lines of the room. Now we live at the beach so you would think that there would be tons of free driftwood. but nope no driftwood sticks. So i went to look online and all the driftwood was so expensive :( but then... ETSY! I looked on etsy and found a person that would ship various sized driftwood sticks for super cheap! I calculated that I needed 90 sticks for my 14" mirror and i was exactly right (if i was doing this again I would order 100 sticks so I would have a few to pick and choose from)

I used foam core board and a round mirror from Michael's and lots of hot glue. I simply cut the foam board to be about 1 inch larger than the mirror and hot glued it together. Then I just went around and glued the sticks on. (Sorry I wish I had taken pictures of the different steps but oooh well)

Mirror Price Break Down:
Mirror $7 but had a 40% coupon
Hot Glue sticks $2
Foam board $2
Driftwood sticks $10.00 + $10.00 shipping

For a Grand total of... ~$28.00 Not too bad! And I think it really works in the room.

The mail came!

My stuff from ModCloth came and I am really glad I went ahead and ordered the dress to see what it looks like in person. It is pretty short and also doesn't really fit how i thought it would. The straps are pretty short so the bodice comes up very high. So live and learn I will show nicki and see if she likes it but im pretty sure its going back. Meanwhile i googled seafoam bridesmaid dresses and found a really cute one from Alfred Angelo and quite a few of their styles come in "sea glass" which looks like the perfect color. Here is one that I like it just looks so pretty :) So we will see, they have a store in Richmond so I might go up there and take a look sometime.

I also got the seafoam flats in and I LOVE them!!! they are perfect and would look awesome with a white flower on them. I am super happy with them and wish i could wear them all the time and not wait a year.

Ok well now off to love on robby and thank him for cooking a wonderful dinner for my parents and I :)

E is for (super cute pink) Elephant

So Sarah emailed me back with her color scheme and a super cute picture of some fabric that one of her sisters-in-law is making a baby blanket out of found here I was super lucky to find the same fabric at the Joann craft store near me! I also found several other fabrics that were buy the same person and part of the same collection and..ta da! I made a super cute elephant for little baby suri!!! The other two projects are in the works but this one was just sooo cute I couldn't wait to finish it :) The body is super soft and the star fabric matches the stars on her baby blanket!! I hope that Sarah likes it (sorry sarah i was just going to send it to you and surprise you but i couldn't wait to share it) Hopefully I get the other things finished in the next few days so I can mail it off to Cali :)

Also my modcloth order was shipped today so its en-route. Yay!!

Baby Suri and Seafoam flats

Soo Sarah told me she is going to name her baby girl Suri Jean Capehart!!! Ahh so cute. Its absolutely perfect and I'm currently obsessed with the idea of painting stuff for her nursery. I cant wait until Sarah emails me back telling me what stuff she wants so I can get started!!

And a wedding update. My mom signed the contract for us for Botanical Gardens so the date is official 7.9.11 :) yay! I also went and picked up my wedding dress yesterday.. its so pretty i absolutely love it and it is just so comfortable! Some dresses I tried on were so tight and others were so heavy and hot but this one is light and airy (thank goodness because otherwise i might die of heat exhaustion walking down the suuuuuuper long "aisle" in the Statuary Vista. We went to a few stores looking for some wedding dress accessories before we picked it up (mainly earrings, shoes, and a longline bra thingy) well at Kohls we had a $10 off any purchase of $10 or more. So we found two pairs of sterling silver and pearl earrings that were 65% off so our total was $12.09 then used our $10 off coupon.... New total: $2.09 awesome. Next we went out looking for a bra because david's bridal bras are $80.00 bucks!! yikes I mean they are nice and all but geeze that seemed like a lot. So we went to Sears and found a bra that is almost identical for...drum roll please... $16.00 now that's more like it :)

The search for shoes was uneventful though. I really want some flats (because i will be walking in grass) that are cute in either white or seafoam with open toes...too much to ask? well i hope not and I found this cute pair on ModCloth and ordered them as long as they are comfortable i think they will be perfect. I might even glue on a flower or some sort of decoration on the toe like this but in white if they arent dressy enough but i really like them. While i was at it i also ordered this dress that i loooooove and really want for bridesmaid dresses but i just need to see it in person first before I can be sure its the right color etc. I can't wait for them to arrive!!!!

I can print from anywhere!!!

So after going to best buy and asking some poor 16 year old kid what the pros and cons of the various printers were... and having him read me the description of features listed on the box out loud...(which I could have done myself) I found my printer!!

I ended up getting the HP Photosmart D110 series printer with touch screen!! They had a few back to school sales so it was $30 off putting it right in my $100 price range :) I love how compact it is (the paper tray folds up) and that it fits in my closet so I can keep it out of sight and off my desk and print wirelessly!! Btw having a printer that has access to the internet is kinda weird.. it downloads updates automatically and has its own email address so you can send documents to print out at our printer from anywhere in the world!!! that to me is just crazyness. But i love it.

ps. SARAH IS HAVING A LITTLE BABY GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

pps. made one slipcover and it doesn't look half bad. hopefully getting around to finishing the other one by the end of the weekend.

ppps. I never went for that run yesterday. but i did go for one today.

Operation Blog and Jog

Here we go. On top of getting ready to start student teaching (read: the most work ever, and not getting paid for it) I have decided that I really want to commit to two of my favorite things. Blogging and Jogging. I love reading blogs and do daily but some how I can never seem to post on my own. That is all going to change today. I am going to start blogging every morning and jogging every morning. From time to time I get on good jogging routines but the past month or so I basically stopped. So time to get a move on. So ladies and gentlemen here we go..

Today I am off to buy a printer. I have to scan 12389723983939 things for my student teaching portfolio and I fear I would have to shoot my self if I tried to to this with my old temperamental printer. So off to the store to get a new one. Things im looking for: a scanner on top, wireless, works with a mac, not too shitty, around $100. Too much to ask? I hope not. My parents have an epson and I like them so I think thats what I want but anyone have any other suggestions?

<3c

ps. My bff finds out today if she is having a little bambino or a little bambinette!!! YAY! Can't wait to hear the fun news

pps. Also I made a mirror for our house and im about to make slipcovers and pillows for our bar chairs. stay tuned for that post.

ppps. Already not feeling motivated to go for a jog....crap.

A boquet I love

Wedding Details

So Robby and I have done tons of planning for the wedding and we have decided on a few things. First off the date.....drumroll please..... 7.9.11 We also found the PERFECT location and thanks to my moms hookup we are getting a fabulous deal at Norfolk Botanical Garden. We are going to have the wedding in the Statuary Vista and then the Reception in Rose Garden Hall.

It has been a super busy week and I have tried on a gazillion dresses and found one that I looooooveeee so much. Its from davids bridal and if you want a sneak peek here is the link SOOOO pretty im in love and cant wait to go try it on again to show soraia :)

Im also starting to think about bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen attire. I am really inspired by this photo off of oncewed.com (i think?) I love the fact that the colors are so neutral. I plan on having seafoam green and grey be the colors but I think having the girls in a light tan-ish dress might be pretty. The colors are going to be very muted so it all blends. Since my dress has a vintage-y feel I wanted to keep everything feeling that way.
